Have A Merry Medlin Christmas
As you might know Monday is one of my get up early days, the other is Thursday. So this morning I was up at 5 AM and had the news on while I was trying to wake up in time to go teach Men’s Bible Study, when I got a big surprise!
I saw some people from KCC on Fox & Friends! Really! Right there on the screen were Kathy and Roger Medlin, and their grandson. He had told his Mom that what he wanted to do this year for Christmas was to give away his gifts to kids who needed them! So his grandparents took him down to the Children’s Hospital in Phoenix and he did just that.
When I saw Roger at the Bible Study he told me that Children’s Hospital had arranged with Channel 5 in PHX to have a camera crew there, and somehow Fox got the footage. (I’m still looking for a print story or video on this, no joy so far. If you find it, please let me know and I’ll link to it here.
How cool is that? Not only do I now know two national TV stars, but got to see what I preached on Sunday acted out on a national stage on Monday!
Sunday I talked about 5 ways we can practice Christmas, they were:
- Celebrate – live a life of joy.
- Give – life a life of generosity.
- Reach out – live a life of service.
- Speak Up – live a life of sharing the Good News.
- Open Up – live a life of community.
And what do you know – the next day it’s being applied!!
Wow – what else can I say, but to echo those immortal words of Han Solo, “Sometimes I even amaze myself!”
What’s that? They did this on Friday, before I preached?
Darn – they beat me to the punch!!
In case you aren’t sure, yes I’m joking. I’m thrilled to see believers acting out the true spirit of Christmas! It’s even cooler to see some members of KCC doing it.
But it’s not surprising, because that’s what this church is all about! Well done Rodger and Kathy!
