Intentional Change Pt. 1: Choosing To Go

It’s easy to be wishy-washy. One minute I’m for something, the next minute I’m not so sure, then I’m against it, but now I’m opened minded and later I might be for it again.

That way no matter how things turn out, I can always say, See, I told you so!

This is a game politicians play very well.  So do a lot of church leaders for that matter.  But we’re not playing that game here at KCC.  This coming Saturday is our First Annual Ministry Summit.  I’m calling it, The Day Everything Changes, because I believe that the process we are going to kick into motion at this Summit, will eventually change just about everything here at KCC.

No, it’s not going to change our devotion to Christ or our belief in the Bible or any of that.  I’m not talking about doctrinal matters, but instead I’m speaking of our philosophy of ministry. It’s time to get more organized, more focused, more committed and much more purposeful.

We must choose to go down this road and take this trip together. It’s not going to happen by accident.  That’s why I’m going to be challenging all of our Ministry leaders to step up their commitment level starting this Saturday.

It’s time to do new things in new ways.  It’s also time to give a lot of old things a face lift, and do them in a new way as well.

This reminded me of something Paul said in 2 Corinthians:

I planned to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way to Judea.  When I planned this, did I do it lightly? Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the same breath I say, “Yes, yes” and “No, no”? But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.”  For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.”  For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:16-20 (NIV)

Please note that Paul was anything but wishy-washy! He was commited to doing God’s will, and to take that trip to Corinth just as soon as God would let Him. Believers need to be confident people because in Christ we have the eternal “Yes” to all of God’s promises!

So, if you’re ready to take this trip, then join with me in saying, “YES LORD JESUS, I’M GOING TO GO!”

More tomorrow!
