Belief In God Does What???
As you probably have noticed the annual “Christmas Wars” are on again. I was watching a report on how the state of Washington has decided to not let anyone put up anything inside their capital building to avoid the hassle and saw an interesting sign from last year.
Last year the atheists put up a sign about how bad belief in God is. They listed all sorts of evil things believing in God does. Most of the list was filled with the usual suspects, war, etc. Too bad they haven’t bothered to read history much, for if they had they’d know that the worst wars in human history, not to mention the worst atrocities in human history, were all done by anti religious, anti God, and certainly anti Christian regimes. See Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, the Soviet Union, etc.
But what really caught my attention was the part of the sign that said belief in God hardens hearts!
Say What????
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing? Are these people nuts or something?
Now, to be fair, I know a lot of religious people who have very hard hearts. They are cold, bitter, sanctimonious, legalistic, etc. I’m sure their religion played a part in hardening their heart, but I’m also sure a lot of other things did as well. But I seriously doubt faith in God had anything to do with it.
Messed up human religion most likely had a whole lot to do with it – but in the end that has nothing to do with believing in God.
That being said, here’s my question – Are you trying to tell me that denial of God and all hope of eternity or meaning in life DOESN’T harden hearts?
If you were so free, why would you even bother protesting us silly believers, much less raise and spend millions of dollars a year trying to force faith out of the public square completely?
It’s the so called “progressives” who make war against all faiths (except Islam of course -that’s waaaay to dangerous because many of them play for keeps!) who are really hard hearted.
They can’t stand the thought that anyone would dare to disagree with them, because after all their exalted intellect is far greater than ours, and we should all just shut up and follow.
That’s what a hard heart looks like fellas, so I suggest you heed the words of Jesus and look in the mirror before you criticize others!
